The organising clubs Täby OK, Attunda OK and Sundbybergs IK are in the midst of preparing and focusing on the planning and execution of hosting the 25manna relay and the middle distance event on 9th and 10th October. The currently on-going pandemic due to Covid-19 is, of course, affecting all facets of our planning efforts, and the organisers continue to monitor the pandemic closely.
The 25manna relay of 2021 is expected to be the 47th running of the 25manna relay since the 2020 event was cancelled. The 25manna relay has a long history of crowning the world’s best orienteering club and we hope that in 2021 that we again can crown the “world’s best club”.
As part of our preparations, we intend to soon publish the preliminary invitation for the 25manna relay, the 25manna middle distance competition and the Swedish League event.
The on-going pandemic affects all aspects of our lives, and the sport of orienteering is severely limited currently. The unknown factors of how the pandemic will continue to develop, and the delays of vaccine distribution are obvious factors that may hinder our planning efforts to host the 25manna relay weekend as we plan.
The organisers are in close co-operation with the 25manna association, the Stockholm Orienteering Federation (StOF) and the Swedish Orienteering Federation (SOFT) and continuously monitoring the authorities restrictions how to limit the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, we also need to keep in mind our own needs as organising clubs and the needs of the participating clubs who also need to plan for the 25manna relay weekend.
It is our intentions to finalize the decision whether or not 25manna 2021 will be held at the end of June. Therefore, the organizers urge any club planning for the weekend in terms of booking lodging and travel are non-binding financially.
